Our student shop techs are becoming Day One-ready professionals through the hands-on Learn by Doing philosophy the College of Engineering is known for. You can help expand that opportunity for students. By sponsoring a shop tech, supporting machine maintenance or donating equipment or materials, you can support the next generation of industry leaders.
Gifts of any size support the salaries of the student technicians in the machine shop. Students work in the shops, honing their technical expertise while gaining valuable leadership skills. Gifts of $7,500 or more, which provide vital support for our program and cover student salaries, will be recognized throughout the year on our shop tech logo/apparel. Deadline of December 31, 2023, for donor name or company logo apparel inclusion.
As we center on the Learn by Doing experience and our enrollment continues to grow, the demand for shop tech staffing has increased. At the same time, shop tech salaries have increased 50% due to the rise in the minimum wage.
