Safety Data Sheet (SDS)
OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration), a federal department and CAL- OSHA, the state agency, are charged with protecting the health of workers. An SDS is one method of protecting you as you work in the Student Projects Lab.
We require that you provide us with an SDS for any new chemical or potentially hazardous material that you bring into the shop before you bring it into the shop!
The company that sells you the product is required by law to provide you with an SDS form at the point of sale, or a source to access one. This is usually a web page or an automated FAX number. All you have to remember to do is ASK.
You will not be allowed to bring any new chemicals or materials into the shop until the SDS has been reviewed by the appropriate entity on campus.
